The Modern Woman

1) Why do girls always ask "Do you think that girl is prettier than me?" I mean we know it's insecurity, but how are we supposed to answer this?

Asked by Gus B. from Troy, MI

You are correct. When women ask you if they look fat or if someone is more attractive than them it is due to insecurity. It could be that she saw a woman and she herself believes that the woman is prettier. It could also be that she saw you looking at the woman (whether you were checking her out or you glanced because she was the only person in front of you) and wants to make sure you don't find this other woman more attractive. Every man should think that his girlfriend/wife is beautiful. A good way to avoid this question is to be verbal and actually tell her you think she is beautiful once in awhile. If she does ask you this question just look her in the eye and tell her that there is no one prettier than she is in your eyes. Make sure you do not attempt this while walking: The prolonged eye contact could cause you to run into a pole or a small child.

2) Why are women so attracted to "bad boys"?

Asked by Halford S. from Lemon Springs, NC

This is a question that may never have a solid answer. Most women wonder this very same thing after their "bad boy" boyfriend cheated on them again or stole their car. However, there are theories so I will share mine. Women are innately drawn towards people that we see in need of help, and we are under the impression that after enough time we can change these men no matter what the situation. We see a man who doesn't even know the meaning of monogamy, a warning goes off in our heads that we shouldn't go near him, then we shut off the alarm and figure that we can make him want to change. We even trick ourselves into believing that he has changed, even if all signs point in the opposite direction. Every woman goes through this "bad boy" attraction until we finally realize that people can't be changed unless they change themselves, and you should never be with someone because you want something that they could potentially be. Thankfully, most women wise up and realize this.

3) How long should the average love making session last? I feel like according to R&B songs I should feel bad if it's anything under14 hours.

Asked by Jason M. from Studio City, CA

That's very funny, mainly because it's true. I think these R&B singers are hiding behind this miraculous amount of endurance they sing so much about. It's very important not to get caught up on time. If you are looking at the clock every couple minutes timing yourself it can get you both out of the mood, and make sex less enjoyable. The length of time each session should last depends heavily on the people involved and your personal preferences. There are couples that make love for hours, and others who are perfectly happy with 20-30 minutes. As long as the two of you are into one another and into what you are doing, time shouldn't really matter.

4) When a girl asks "What would you do if I died?," what is she looking to hear?

Asked by Darren W. from Cambridge, MA

I don't know too many women that ask this question. This could be a sign of extreme insecurity. If you two have been together for awhile she may have thought about what life would be like if you left her or if anything should ever happen to you. Or possibly that when you guys grow old together you could pass away before her. Any of these thoughts could have been so painful that she didn't know if she could bear living on if you had passed away. When a woman feels this strongly about someone she wants to know that you reciprocate these same feelings. She may be just making sure that you share for her the feelings she has for you.

5) Is sex ever acceptable on the first date?

Asked by Bobbie C. from Mount Oliver, PA

If you are looking to start a relationship with a woman I would avoid having sex on the first date. Even if she is ready to have sex, I can guarantee that it will mean more to her that you wait. By simply waiting you show her that you respect her, want to get to more about her before the two of you start a sexual relationship, and that you don't just care about sex.

6) Why are women attracted to a man in uniform?

Asked by Jean L. from Montreal, Quebec

Women are attracted to a man in uniform for a couple different reasons. When in uniform a man is clean, freshly shaven, and the uniform is fitted and tidy. It also makes us think that these men are powerful and want to dedicate their lives to helping others. This is the perfect visual of some of the qualities all women want their men to have; handsome, clean, caring, and are capable of protecting us if the occasion calls for it.

7) Is it true that girls always have a special place in their heart for the man who took their virginity?

Asked by Lamar F. from Plano, TX

I would like to tell you no, but it is true. It is not that we are still attracted to him or that we are going to be in love with him until the end of time. When a girl loses her virginity it is a big deal to us. It is a very emotional time for a girl, and that is a bond that we will forever share with the person we first had sex with.
