April Start's uplifting music has been featured in film and on TV shows like Guiding Light, The Hills, and TLC's Makeover Train. She's currently working on her next pop album, and you can stay up-to-date on her career at her website AprilStart.com.

Q: No one song can ever represent an artist's talents, but if you were forced to, what song would you choose if you were only allowed to perform one for all of your fans?

AS: That's tough, but if I had to choose one song to perform for my fans out of all the songs I've written, it would have to be Grow. I chose this song because it has a great, uplifting message that I think anyone can relate to and draw inspiration from.

Q: If we were to take a peak at your iTunes playlist, which artists would be in heavy rotation?

AS: I listen to a wide variety of artists, but lately I have been listening to a lot of Joni Mitchell's album Blue, Carole King, Ryan Adams and in my car right now I'm enjoying the new album released by One Republic.

Q: Several artists claim that slight inebriation can actually improve live performances. Your take?

AS: I completely disagree with that one, but that's for me. It may work for other musicians, but the last time I had a glass of wine before I performed, I forgot the lyrics to one of my songs! I managed to do a great job of disguising it, but I haven't had a drink since that experience.

Q: Ten years from now you will be saying what about your career?

AS: What I'll be saying ten years from now? Your guess is as good as mine! I don't like to concentrate on the future as much as living in the moment and embracing every one I'm given!

Q: Have you ever forgotten your lines while belting out a song?

AS: I have! I gave the answer to this question away already in question three's answer, so that kind of spoils it! It was definitely a performance I'll never forget, I can tell ya that much! I remember watching the video footage of it back and cringing. The good thing was that unless you knew every lyric to the song, you would have never known I forgot the lyrics because I started singing gibberish, but I knew and that was bad enough! In times like these though, you just have to, brush it off, get back up and keep pressin' forward and that's what I did.

Q: It's probably a bit hard to fathom, but if your career wasn't in singing, how do you imagine you would be making a living?

AS: I love music, but I am also very passionate about animals, so I would have to say that I would probably be a veterinarian.

Q: What is a personal factoid that you've never shared with your fans?

AS: I like to eat ketchup on my mac and cheese! Weird, but ohhh soo good!

Q: How much of a factor does luck, karma, blessings, etc. play in success in the entertainment field?

AS: Luck plays a huge part in the entertainment business. Being in the right place at the right time sometimes is all it takes! This industry can really wear on you after awhile, so it's not for everyone. You really have to want it and have it engraved in your soul to keep going at times, but I believe that persistence always pays off in the end.

Q: Where can we catch more of you in 2008?

AS: Right now, I'm writing and trying to put together a great follow-up album to Changes. It's been a long time coming, but I'm a perfectionist, so if it's not 100% there, I won't be putting it out. As for live shows, I hope to be on the road again by late summer-fall with all my new material!
