Andy McCoy

Andy McCoy has been tearing it up on guitar for three decades, and has had a huge impact on the musical world with his role in the band Hanoi Rocks. After Hanoi Rocks broke up in the mid-80's, Andy also performed in the band Cherry Bombz, and performed with fellow rock legend Iggy Pop. Now, of course, Hanoi Rocks are back together and still rockin'. For more information on Andy you can visit his official website at AndyMcCoy.com or his MySpace at MySpace.com/AndyMcCoyOfficial. For up-to-date news on Hanoi Rocks make sure to visit HanoiRocks.info. But for right now, enjoy our interview with Andy "The Real" McCoy.

Q: You were born in Pelkosenniemi, Finland. Name three large differences between the U.S. and your home country.

AM: Not much, my birthplace can be compared to Yellowstone Park, and EU is the place where western civilization was born. And yeah, Mickey Dees are everywhere.

Q: Which bands continue to inspire you?

AM: Not bands as much as the sound of inner city traffic.

Q: When you were just 13 years of age, you started the Finnish Punk band "Briard." If the adult version of you could go back in time and talk to the 13 year old version of you, what advice would you give?

AM: Do it like I did. Dive right in and play well.

Q: What are your thoughts on today's music scene?

AM: What scene?

Q: What separates great guitar players from the ordinary ones?

AM: To know when and when to play, when not and what to play.

Q: The members of the original Guns n Roses lineup were big fans of Hanoi Rocks and in fact have said that Hanoi Rocks had a large influence on their music. How does it feel to have such a lasting impact on the music world?

AM: Personally don't care a lot.

Q: Do you have any particular song that you enjoy playing more than any other?

AM: I love playing anything excluding louie lui.

Q: You guys have been working on recording a new album that, according to your website, should be released in September. What can fans expect with this release?

AM: They'll get a fist full of class and r'n'r.

Q: Hanoi Rocks have primarily toured Europe over the past few years, but do you have any plans to tour the U.S. anytime soon?

AM: The plan is to head over to States straight from Japan in the fall (yeah, 2007).

Q: We end all of our interviews with word association, we say wombat and you say

AM: Whatzdat?
